Step 1: Add videos or images to the Timeline

To apply different effects to your video and image, you should place it to the Timeline area, first of all. So, select your video in the file area (enter the Video category if you are not in it) and without releasing the left mouse button drag it to the very first row of the Timeline and only after that release the button to drop the video there:

Step 2: Add the desired effect to the Timeline

Click the Video effects pane and choose the effect you like best in the right area then drag and drop it to the Video effects row of the Timeline:

Step 3: Define the effect startup moment

Click the effect block and move it along the row holding the mouse button, if the suitable moment for the effect to start is caught release the mouse button:

Step 4: Define the effect duration

You can set the duration of the added effect by left-clicking it (it will be highlighted) and pressing the Duration button on the Timeline Toolbar or right-clicking the necessary effect and selecting the Duration option. A window (see the figure below) will appear where you can set the necessary value by entering it through the keyboard. Then press the OK button to apply the set duration of the effect.

Any Video Editor also allows to preview and adjust video effects in real time. After adding an effect to the video file you can preview the applied effect in the Preview Area.

If you want to delete the applied effect, you should select it and press the Remove button on the Timeline Toolbar or right-click the effect you want to delete and choose the Remove option.
